The sun was shining for a wonderful Zone High School athletics carnival at Mingara Regional Athletics Centre 2019.
Our Central Coast kids gave it their all representing their schools and local area with pride and great effort.

Talent Development in Sports – Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College
The following students from Tuggerah Lakes College have been selected in the Talent Development in Sport.
We’d like to introduce you to some of the Central Coasts rising stars.
Krystal Bulmer Year 9
Krystal’s massive athletic potential came to attention last year when, as a Year 8 student with little to none sprint training, recorded the fastest times by any female College sprinter at the Tuggerah Lakes Zone Carnival. On the sporting field, Krystal uses her blinding speed to dominate local and regional competitions in Soccer, OzTag and League Tag. Krystal progressed to the Sydney North regional carnival for 15 years 100m, 200m, Long Jump and relay by winning these events. We know Krystal is going to be a star we are just not sure at which sport!
Stella Norris Year 8
Even though Stella is only in Year 8 she has already achieved NSW All Schools and NSW CHS Gold Medals in two of the most strenuous and arduous events the 3000 metres and the triathlon respectively. Stella has also recorded highly creditable performances at a state-level in cross country and zone swimming. Stella progressed to the Sydney North Regional carnival for 14 years 800m, 1500m and 3000m by winning these events. Stella broke a 21-year-old Zone record in winning the 800m. She has an unbelievable will to win and she is one of the most promising young athletes in the state.
Corey-Jay Eyndhoven Year 12
CJ is a remarkable athlete. He entered the Talent Development in Sport program two years ago as an elite footballer and now he is the most promising young shot putter in NSW and most probably Australia. In the last 12 months CJ has turned a strong interest and talent in shot put into becoming the top-ranked U20 shot putter in NSW. He progressed to the Sydney North regional carnival for 17-19 years discus and shot put. He broke a 32-year-old Zone record in winning the shot put.
Sunny Starr-Carusi Year 11
Last year was a break-out year for Sunny as she won a number of events including a gold medal at the NSW All Schools and gained selection in the Triathlon NSW Emerging Talent Squad. She was a major player in all of the triathlon and swimming events in which she entered. Unfortunately, toward the end of the 2018 season, Sunny sustained an injury and she has just returned to full training. Aside from her sport Sunny is a wonderful ambassador for the College and commits herself to many events at Zone and Regional athletic and swimming carnivals. Sunny progressed to the Sydney North Regional Carnival for 17 – 19 years 800m, 1500m and 3000m by winning the events.
Joel Kemp Year 10
Joel Kemp is a NSW and Australian champion race walker. Race walking is the most technical and tactical endurance events on the track and Joel has developed a strong reputation as one of Australia’s most promising race walkers. Such is his dedication to the sport he competed injured at the recent 2019 Australian Championships finishing a very creditable fifth. Joel progressed to the Sydney North Regional Carnival for 16-19 years 3000m race walk.
Taine Petersen Year 12
With a best 100m time of 10.6 seconds, Taine Petersen is in the top echelon of sprint athletes, of any age, in Australia. Taine finished second in the NSW All Schools open 100m and made the 100m final at the Australian All Schools. He was the best performed NSW sprinter. He has also been included in Athletics NSW Targeted Talent Program. Taine progressed to the Sydney North Regional Carnival for 17-19 years 100m be winning the event.
Sienna Sawyers Year 8
Sienna is in Year 8 and another star on the rise. She has tremendous potential on the track, particularly in the 400m and 200m. She also excels in a range of sports including league tag and touch football. Sienna progressed to the Sydney North Regional Carnival for 14 years 100m and 200m by winning the events.
